For the successful round of London bombings, I find myself wondering about why people are so shocked that it appears that the participants were raised and educated in the UK?? Are 'terrorists' only allowed to come from with-out of our freedom-loving, peace-building countries? Have we not ourselves raise fundamental religious based terrorists? What about Timothy McVeigh, Eric Rudoplh or the multi-century struggle between the Catholics and Protestants in Ireland? Is not the basis of these acts also religious fundamentalism? Not that this thought or rant justifies any act like this... at all!
The second round of scares were supposedly in protest of the UK's participation in OIF. Violence begets violence; can we not do better than install democracy at the end of a gun while gutting our own long-term moral authority and economic stability?
And the worst of it ( I do say that with some sarcasm ) is that Nikki was supposed to come to Cyprus last Sunday for 1 week, and some hooligan stole her purse at Waterloo Station!! Which left her with no passport, no identification, no money, no mobile NOTHING!! SUCKS, no other word, just SUCKS. She spent most of her time going to and from the French Embassy waiting for new paperwork to be issued, which was issued on Thursday. But with such little time left in the week, the cost/benefit didn't really make sense for her to come. SUCKS. She was stuck in London where it was 18c and rainy with a suitcase of clothes for 40c and sun. SUCKS. Well, I'll be here for a while longer, so maybe next year?? SUCKS.
I just guess I'll have to visit her in PARIS ;)
