Last week we had the chance to go to Bellapais and attend the 2nd Annual Mozart Festival, and saw The Magic Flute. We started with dinner at Kybele (same place as Mother's Day lunch) it was quite nice. It's connected to the abbey so when dinner ran long, as they are prone to do here, we were able to listen to the first few acts from our table.
The production was set in the courtyard of the abbey and it was AMAZING, beautiful and well done. The group came in from Germany and did it quite well, we were very pleased. There were about 100 people in the audience, very small but very involved in the production as we were all so up close and personal.
Something to keep in mind for planning your visits.
Although, I have to say that the weather has turned VERY hot... highs on the coast are about 32-34c daily with higher humidity than we get, inland where we are it's 38-42c ( with lower humidity, about mid 30% ). Nights are nicer inland, we get a breeze and it cools off to about 26c... but it's too damn hot to do anything in the mid-afternoon! And should be this way through mid-September. Thank GOD we have AC!!
